- Prof. Andrew Sum was quoted in Bob Herbert’s column titled, “Education, Education, Education”¸ The New York Times, March 5, 2007. Herbert’s piece referenced a new report from CLMS titled, The Educational Attainment of the Nation's Young Black Men and Their Recent Labor Market Experiences: What Can Be Done to Improve Their Future Labor Market and Educational Prospects? This report was prepared for Jobs for America’s Graduates and was released at a conference on March 8, 2007.
- On March 5th, Andrew Sum was the keynote speaker at the “Graduation Summit: The Power of Community Partnerships” at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Massachusetts Department of Education co-sponsored this conference to discuss the release of the state’s new graduation rate data. Over 500 state and local leaders and practitioners who work with pre-K to 12 children in Massachusetts attended this conference.
